We have the honor and the privilege of seeing entire families getting adjusted together in our chiropractic office. There is usually a good bit of laughing, giggling, teasing and loud noises when everyone visits the practice together. These visits can be a lot of good fun and craziness all happening at the same time, but there is real magic happening behind the whirlwind. What makes a family chiropractic office and what are the benefits when the whole family comes in together? Seeing whole families together is why Dr. Ryan and I started Connect First Family Chiropractic and we want to share why that vision is so important to us. Here are the top three reasons that we came up with of why families love getting adjusted.
- Families come together and bond over how they are doing. We see this every time family members come in together. In our society it is easy to get separated over the busy schedules and laundry list of to-do’s. The kids are back at school and have sports practices and music lessons in the afternoons. Parents work all week, and more often than not, work doesn’t end when they get home. It is easy to become dis-CONNECTED (get it?) from each other when life speeds up, and fall out of touch with all of the goings’ ons’. When families come in to their appointment together, we see everyone come alive! We see parents loving on their kids. Kids teasing dad when he’s getting his adjustment. Dad catching up with mom and coming together at the end of a long day. This time together with limited electronic distractions does wonders for family health, in addition to the adjustments of course.
- Children learn to value their health. They do as they see, not as they’re told. This is actually a quote that we have heard from multiple parents in our office. We can’t take credit for it, but we do believe there is some truth behind it. Kids are like sponges from a very early age, and are always watching and imitating what their parents do. When parents show that health and wellness is a priority in front of their kids, this has a profound impact on how kids value their health for years to come. We believe this type of parental leadership has a huge impact in the health care crisis that we will talk about in the next point.
- “Whole-istic” Health Care is on the rise. We hear from our patients time and time again that they are looking for someone to “put the pieces together” and consider all aspects in their health. They are looking for more than an antibiotic or a cream to cover up a symptom, just like they are looking for more than processed foods and genetically modified produce. The time for symptom management is over, and we are on a mission at CFFC to help our patients learn and understand what true health is. Our traditional health-care system is exceptional at reacting to emergency situations and managing disease and sickness. This is why we refer to it as the sick-care model in our office, because sickness and disease is the focus and it’s goal is to eliminate symptoms. However, chronic disease is on the rise. 70% of our world is dying from chronic disease and it is the leading driver in our 3.8 trillion dollar annual healthcare cost in our country. A different approach focused on health, prevention and lifestyle is critical to reverse this trend. In our office we support the body’s natural ability to heal and function by ensuring that the nervous system is functioning at 100%. This approach takes into account the master control center of the body, the brain, and improves its ability to communicate and coordinate all functions that are happening in the organs, muscles, tissues and cells throughout all systems of the body. We call this a “Whole-istic” approach to Health Care!
Our office is filled with all sorts of people from different walks of life. Pregnant moms, CrossFitters, grandparents, babies, businessmen and women and everyone in between has benefitted from chiropractic care. We have a soft spot for family chiropractic care because there is an underlying magic that happens when everyone is adjusted together!
